PostSubject: Enemy Basement Camping   Tue Oct 14, 2008 12:54 am

So, I was playing in 2fort not too long ago, and found the perfect opportunity on an idiot team to set up camp in their intel room.

Half way through it, I get a voice message from one of the guys on the other team, who is pissed off so much that he decides to:
1) Go for the classic, insulting sexuality insult
2) Tell me it's not a legitimate tactic.

I don't see why it's not a legitimate tactic, as it both works, and hasn't been patched by Valve in any way. If anyone can shed some light on this, it would be much appreciated.

Further more, I recently entered a game, 4 to 1, me being the 1, on 2fort, and entered a spawnkilling(done half-asssedly) and intel-camping situation. I, nearly single-handed, Destroyed their entire team, removed them from our intel room, and made them all leave, one by one, till the connection was dropped... That I'm proud of, though they seemed to suck horribly at the game...

So, is it a legitimate tactic, or not? I know my opinion, but what's yours?

Basically our whole team was in their intel.

How does that single variable make it not a legitimate tactic? I could've sworn a tactic was defined as : a plan, procedure, or expedient for promoting a desired end or result.

Didn't we successfully:
A) keep the enemy from scoring our intel.
B)Capture their intel
C)Annoy them to the point of petty insults

I call that a tactic, as we accomplished all of that. So, one more time... How does the single variable of having an entire team in the enemies' intelroom, camping it up, make it not a legitimate tactic?

Well isn't it just noobish to just stay there, the whole team....getting there takes skill, most of the times.

But the whole team is just cheap, maybe half at most.but it's cheap.

I've already stated(I think) that it's a moderately cheap tactic. That's beside the point.

The question I asked you was not how cheap it was, but if it were a legitimate tactic. It is one, obviously, no matter how cheap it may be.(exception: Demoman... needs to be nerfed... majorly nerfed...)

I thought the point of the game was to have fun, or at least a challenge. And it may be pretty challenging to actually set up shop in the enemy base, anything after that is pretty boring for both sides isn't it?

Depends. I've managed a full scale attack from the enemy base, with enough engineers so that we could have our sentries in the hallways covering the intel room with 2 more sentries inside. Plenty of protection inside against Spys, and with my sentry in the hallway, I was able to easily rank up the points Very Happy.

Well if we are ignoring the fact it's cheap, then i guess it would be a good tactic. I'm gonna pick "moo" though. Because its "moo"!!!

You can't very well care for cheapness when you're having fun. It's quite legitimate as it can be done, and hasn't been fixed, and nothing has been done to keep it from happening. Valve knows a little about what should and shouldn't really be part of their games. Sure, there are glitches, but they're not exactly meant to be there. This, however, is easily meant to be in the game.

A serious game does allow for cheap tactics. Again, just because it's cheap, doesn't mean it's not a legitimate tactic. It's completely valid as it hasn't been kept from being done. Yes, it's cheap, but in no case is it not a legit tactic.
